The Irish Hockey Trophy is a tournament that was introduced in 2008.

Irish Hockey Trophy Cup Eligibility
This is an open draw cup from which the following 1st XI teams can enter:

Ulster 1st XI Senior 1 & 2 Teams
Leinster 1st XI teams in Division 2, 3 & 4
Munster 1st XI teams in Division 1 & 2, that do not qualify for the Irish Senior Cup
South East 1st XI on application at time of entry
Connacht 1st XI on application at time of entry
